Christmas in Bali

Translation provided by mLingua: polski

I spent Christmas Eve with two friendly Australian girls that I met at Couchsurfing website. Couchsurfing is a great idea, and I will definitely use it at the later stages of my journey.

The idea consists in people from all around the world offering a free place to sleep – totally selflessly. You can be a host, i.e. you can offer a place to sleep, or a traveler who uses this possibility. In both cases, the main ideas are establishing international relations and cultural interchange. I have met 4 people from CS so far, and I’m very positive about it.

It turns out that the “rest of the world” celebrate Christmas on the first day of Christmas and not on Christmas Eve like in Poland. However, in Ubud you can’t really feel the Christmas atmosphere as 99% of inhabitants are Hindu. Although some restaurants organize “Christmas Dinners”, and it is possible to notice a christmas tree – these are still palms which catch people’s eyes.

I am not in the Christmas mood at all, especially since after two weeks of pondering, I felt omnipresent incentive to work. Everyday, I get up at 8 a.m., I run till I’m really awake, I devour fruit for breakfast and start to accumulate my passive income, so that I could afford travelling all over Australia, Fiji, Hawaii and the USA. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
